DH257 8" Platter, Chun and Copper Red over Tenmoku (black/brown)

Regular price $99.00

This 8” diameter platter can be displayed in your home, either vertically on the wall (the foot is constructed in such a way that you can hang it on a small nail) or horizontally, on a table. You can also use it as you would use any side plate, for eating or serving.  This particular platter, glazed in  Chun and Copper Red over Tenmoku, has a design that, for me, refers to the concentric circles that are created when you toss a stone into a still pond, or raindrops falling on the surface of a reflecting pool, and the reverberation is infinite.

The glaze known as a "Chun" glaze is like those used in China during  the Song Dynasty. The Song Dynasty was an Imperial dynasty of China that began in 960 and lasted until 1279. This beautiful soft blue glaze is created by a very small addition of copper carbonate and tin oxide. The special firing results from being fired in our wood kiln and being cooled quickly.

“I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world.” –Rainer Maria Rilke

Wood fired to 2450°F, Cone 13.  Shipping, packing, handling, and insurance included in price with no hassle return. See policies page for complete details.
