GH002 Large Cut-Sided Bowl with Ten Facets

There are some very special things going on with this bowl. It has ten cut facets around the outside. In the inside center the spiral created while the bowl is being thrown demonstrates the way a tenmoku glaze breaks over the surface with gradated variations. In the spiral, you have black breaking to a rich brown. On the back of the bowl, a spiral is also hand-cut and you can once again see how the glaze breaks. The sides have slip trailed glaze and, because it is wood fired, there are more ash accumulation effects on one side than on the other. Very rich with a different beauty revealed on every area of the piece.
