DH048 Spiral Tattoo Basket

Three techniques Daphne has evolved over the decades converge in this piece. The first is the legged platter form first done in about 1982. The second is the handle over the top of the piece with a beautiful texture on the surface making this ideal for a table centerpiece or for serving. The third is the spiral tattoo brush surface treatment done with a Japanese calligraphy brush. And if we listed a fourth technique, it would be the overall surface embellishment of ash from firing in the wood kiln. This is one of those pieces that reveals itself to you over time. A lot of information embedded in this piece. It has to be held and observed closely to understand.
