GH067 Chun Woodfired Bowl

Regular price $135.00

This is a lovely small bowl. The glaze is what is known as a "Chun" glaze which is like those used in China during  the Song Dynasty. The Song dynasty was an imperial dynasty of China that began in 960 and lasted until 1279. This beautiful soft blue glaze is created by a very small addition of copper carbonate and tin oxide. The special firing results from being fired in our wood kiln and being cooled quickly. Inside the bowl is a bright red dot of glaze right in the center. On the outside of the bowl are the marks of wood ash from the firing deposited on one side. Therer araae grooves cut in the outside of the bowl that lend a subtle shape variation to the form. The opposite side the clay is a lighter color since it faced away from the fire. The foot of the  bowl has more of the bright red glaze for a little surprise.
This is a really nice bowl I am tempted to keep for myself, but alas, I can not keep them all!! 6"w x 3/5"h.

Wood fired to 2450°F, Cone 13.  Shipping, packing, handling, and insurance included in price with no hassle return. See policies page for complete details.
