Look closely at this platter. It has three glazes on it and is unlike any other. This is a very fine 8" "Portal" platter by Daphne. Using a technique similar to batik or wax-resist, hot wax is applied with a brush in a pattern or design on to the first layer of glaze. Then the second layer of red glaze is applied over the black which when fired allows for a blending of the black, purple and red glazes to create a finish that is amazing in detail. As the three glazes melt in the kiln and blend together, many more colors than the three are created. In addition to the red, purple, and black, you can also see gold, silver, blue, and brown in many shades. This platter will make a beautiful presentation of your special culinary creation.
